Outpatient surgery or same-day surgery permit the client on the same day of surgery to return home. It allows patients to undergo surgical procedures without having to stay overnight in a hospital.

After Outpatient Surgery

  • After the completion of a surgery, patient shifted to the recovery room, where patient return to conscious stage from sedation. Recovery can occur within 1 hour or more.
  • The nurse assists the patients vital and pain and informs the doctor if any complications occur.

Going Home from Outpatient Surgery

  • When patient vitals like temperature, pulse, breathe, respiration and BP are under control or in the normal range.
  • Patient able to pass urine
  • When the patient can walk without any help
  • Patient when able to comfortable with food and drink
  • Completion of Outpatient Surgery
